Double Sextet was slightly underwhelming. This and Different Trains are still his crowning achievements, imo. Oh, and The Cave is pretty incredible as well.

get music for a large ensemble. city life is pretty great as well



i dont like the cave, although it might be the recording i have which makes it sound really dated and cheap. but yeah i think in general that one takes the vocal-melody thing a little too far and the compositions suffer as a result (whereas different trains kicks ass because of them)



also electric counterpoint is sick as well, although chances are you already have the disc bundled with different trains anyways

Don't care for City Life. Music for Large Ensemble is good. The Four Sections is quite enjoyable as well. Three Tales, not so much.
