The closer sucks though
Like why the hell is there a shredding guitar solo in it? That's like the last thing a Knife song needs

The best here is worse than the best on Deep Cuts
but the worst on here is better than the worst on Deep Cuts
agree with the former sentiment, tracks like Heartbeats, Pass This On, and You Make Me Like Charity beat out anything here but lets get real here The Cop and Hangin Out are the worse songs the Knife have ever made

this and deep cuts are both very sunny but also very different from those two and very amateurish in comparison. they have a handful of the knife's quintessential tracks but overall they are inconsistent and messy. it's charming though and seeing where they started makes their discog that much more impressive.

This ain’t too shabby for a debut. I quite enjoyed a fair chunk of it despite how ‘amateur’ it sounds compared to what followed.

what doesn't appeal to you about a 3.2 average album with an album cover made from construction paper

This is a worthwhile release, I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone but if you dig their other releases it makes for an interesting and somewhat shocking contrast.
It’s inconsistent and perhaps a tad primitive, but also charming.

always assumed, probably inaccurately, that this would be like the 60% of Deep Cuts that is not awesome apart from maybe less awesome hm

Maybe. I remember this having stuff that was superior, although Deep Cuts is better overall.
A true unicorn band that aged like a fine wine to the extent that every time they released an album it was better than the last one, yet you can still return to their earlier material without feeling disappointed. Interesting evolution.
