damn i forgot about bars of gold will have to check them out
yeah i think dgd have a few good records left in them but i found acceptance speech was their worst album in terms of setting itself apart from their earlier stuff . still good (3.9) but not as original (even tho i liked what they did with the electronic effects + poppy feel).
obviously secret bands new album should be a banger. you got your vinyl yet? im still waiting on mine

no im still waiting ughhhh also to clarify i include a lot like birds in the dgd family cuz kurt and ya def check bars of gold its chill
but 'i found acceptance speech was their worst album in terms of setting itself apart from their earlier stuff' really? imo if theres one thing tht can be said about acceptance speech its at least theyre trying new things. thats my fav thing about dgd besides mess, their albums are all v different. personally love it despite the overproduction of tillians vox

yeah a lot like birds have put out good stuff/still showing lots of promise.
i dunno man maybe they are trying new things but they just change their general sound in a slightly different way each time and im started get bored of it.
Will Swan does the noodly guitars, jon mess screams some nonsensical lyrics, the lead singer has interplay with jon and has a really distinctive voice, matt does that drumming thing where he intersperses short blastbeats into all the songs.
i liked secret bands stuff because the guitar work was different to that of DGD (the whole psychedelic feel it had).
i dunno.

ya i hear you like 1:20 on in devil's gospel has more feels prob than any dgd song that song is fucking immense and has a v different feel. people you know/people you knew actually both had very different feels instrumentally too, must be something to do with mess
im gonna go get some new expensive shit

people you knew is probs my fav dgd song just cos of that really intense feel it has due to messes
superb lyricism on that track

you could try YEW, it's a Jacobi x Bad Rabbits sideproject
|
| |
YEW is good, but it's no Jacobi. They split Circo Supreme (Singer + Drummer of Jacobi) aswell. OP Grime (Drummer solo project) and Lean Automatic (Singer solo project) are alright as well but again, it's no Jacobi. I just love what these guys had going so much.

Yea yew is a pretty big disappointment imo

It's good for what it is, but knowing that those guys used to make music like this.. It just doesn't really compare.
