This album has to be one of my all time favorites; it's what really got me into rock music. Laugh if you want, but underneath the great comedy, there's genuine musical gold to be mined here. The more you'll listen to it, the more you'll notice little things, like brilliantly written guitar fills or KG's harmonies. The D's ability to write catchy, addictive, and fulfulling melodies constantly blows me away (as does the solo on Wonderboy). KG is a truly talented guitarist, and JB has a very pleasing voice, or in his words, pipes of platinum. Therefore, I think this album should also be judged by its musical merits, and not be compared to artists such as Weird Al. Some interesting things: the little skits and random things in between songs remind me of Surfer Rosa, and the song structure and concept of City Hall are a lot like Radiohead.

"City Hall" is an awesome epic. "Double Team" is one of the most complex songs musically on this album. The skits crack me up each time, and some of the songs have me in tears by the time I'm done listening to them. Love this album, and anyone that disagrees is crazy!

If you like Tribute you should just download it and not bother buying the album it's really not that good.

Great, great album. The songs are not only hilarious but extremely well-written, especially the vocal harmonies and the general fluidity of the parts within the songs themselves.
on a side note the DVD is even better.

Anyone who has the DVD's knows that the songs are perfect for what they do. Once you have watched them, you will begin toappreciate the true value of the band.
I also wonder why the review is so damn late.

Good CD and a nice review.
Although, I disagree with you at some points. I'm in love with the real songs that have comedic tones. Like Wonderboy, I don't see how you can not like that. Great music and who can not like the lyrics to a song with anything remotely close to that "mind bullets" part in it? Heh.
