I like metalcore. However, this band is pretty boring and their screaming is annoying. There are plenty of metalcore band's that are far more interesting and have less annoying vocals.

Yeah Underoath are a really good metalcore band but there sound has varied over the course of the 6 great albums from trash metal - death metal - hardcore - screamo - metalcore. Give all their albums a listen from the start to see how far they have come. They have always been a great band in relation to the christian metalcore scene.

Ah well every1 has there own interpretations of genres, styles and soundings, but thx for correcting me (i think u would know much more than me). I'm not too sure about pop though, to me They're Only Chasing Safety was screamo.

it was nothing like screamo, you might want to check up your genre meanings before commenting. They're Only Chasing Safety was 100% post hardcore.

Well I can sort have see where Redd.. is coming from seeing that TOCS did have some hooks about it, but I am not sure about the 'pop' part, though we are probably creating genres from know where!

Yeah i see where ur coming from Reddannihilation but i feel that that TOCS is predominant with a hardcore/screamo influence, but i can see where u get the pop core style from (especially in "Reinventing Your Exit"). Aaron Gillespie singing alot annoys me, but Young and Aspiring, that is a great song.

That song is turns into an emo song after the intro. I think the lyrics in that song are about what happened to Dallas Taylor's GF. (Car Crash)

Why would a song on TOCS have anything to do with a guy's girlfriend who wasn't in the band anymore?

This band is a joke.

Always has been.

Terrible vocals, bland song writing, beginner level drumming.

Ugh.

"Why would a song on TOCS have anything to do with a guy's girlfriend who wasn't in the band anymore?"

In answer to your question, all the lyrics on TOCS were written by Aaron Gillespie. He had been in the band with Dallas since the beginning. Even though Dallas left the band, he was still great friends with all the current members so it's not a shock that they made a song about him, I mean he did make Underoath a big success with TCOT after the first two EP's (which were awesome btw)

I don't know for sure that this song is about Dallas's Girlfriend but the lyrics really do sound familiar to what happened to her. It would be awesome if one of the band members would sit down in an interview and explain the meaning of each song, but before that ever happens, all we have are assumptions.

Oh and Unskathed123, this band is the benchmark of metalcore. The vocals on every album they have made are truly powerful, the song writing is creative and emotional and the drumming of Aaron Gillespie, if you think that is beginner then Andy Hurley must be retarded.
