Don’t get me wrong, the ending(s) to return are a bit excessive, but it’s a great movie on the whole.

i just wish more people could see that this one is clearly the best

In some ways this is the best but I gotta give it to Return by a small margin, best movie ever made and the multiple endings are totally justified by the emotional impact of each one imo. Absolute perfection.

the most happens in this one and it just has this atmosphere that the other two don't have imo

I see what you mean. Fellowship has the most variety and contrast with all the locations of Middle-earth, world-building, and amazing atmosphere too. My favorite version of Gandalf and Frodo as well, and I’ve always loved Boromir cause he’s the most human.

@talons
Hit the nail on the head on all counts. Fellowship is such an awesome slow burn that lets you bask in Tolkien’s rich world, and it has lots of great world/character building. Two towers just feels like a load of battles with little in between, to me (Gollum is the best thing in that film), and return feels like a nice balance of the two films before it. Perfect trilogy overall.
And then there’s the abominable Rings of Power…. Lol

I watch the lotr every chirstmas and always want to go back to it when i'm finished, so i end up resorting to trying to watch the hobbit. i can never get through them though, they're just awful. lol
there's meant to be a fan edit that removes all the garbage, but i haven't got around to watching it yet.

Yeah, it basically cuts it down to one long film with only the stuff from the book in it.

I "watched" it during a hobbit themed party, but wasn't paying much attention. Need to see if it fixed my gripes

I like the part where Aragorn trips over his sword while running and they kept it in the final cut
