I'm glad you liked this and took the time to get used to the vocals.
As for the quote of mine, I think you're misunderstanding. The albums are really good, but if you were to follow their progression from their debut to their third album you'd realize that if they were to keep up the pace then that fourth album would have ended up so convoluted, pretentious, and just over-the-top that they'd be "up their own ass". Obviously, I'm just a shitty reviewer and don't know if they would have actually gone too far or not, but the progression from one album to the next says "yes". But - the three albums are all really good, especially the second and third one.

yar, think I misunderstood a little; hung up on that sentence. Thanks for straightening that out.
I've liked your reviews so far. I mean, this one got me into Believer. And we'll see about some
industrial bands in the future for me from your Guide to Industrial.
I have a lot of catching up to do in the world of music, thanks to this site.

Can't listen to "The Brave" at all. I hardly ever delete songs from Winamp or the harddrive — in the spirit of keeping up 'complete-ness' — but this time I made a heavy-handed exception.
The only Killswitch song I've liked is their "Holy Diver" cover.
Mentor Willie, how many listens/days do you usually give an album before choosing a rating? (if you don't mind me asking)
Mine might be round a week.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of "The Brave" either but I could see why they would want to do it. They're friends, they're on his label, he's in big band, and it could have turned out pretty good - but it didn't.
You can't pick a number of days/listens as a minimum. Each album is going to be different. I just listen until it feels like the album clicks. If it's a band I've been listening to for years it takes a lot less time than a band I'm barely hearing for the first time.

This is good but my attention lagged considerably during the middle of the album tbh

Really? I thought the middle section of the album was the strongest. It's more experimental (nkt counting the closer).

Cool. Glad this is still getting random hits. Anyone into this should look into Anacrusis (their albums are free... as I've posted 100 times before).

I've been really digging both this, Sanity Obscure and Anacusis' Screams and Whispers. Great recs, Willie.

Awesome. I'm glad you like them. Believer is in the process of recording the follow-up to this album. I'm looking forward to it.

does this sound like Sanity Obscure
oh and Anacrusis rules

This is a little more "expansive" (best word I can use) than Sanity Obscure.

But it's definitely heavier and thrashier than Dimensions.

Was just listening to The Brave, and was like "holy shit, that guy sounds exactly like Howard Jones!"
And what do you know; it was.

Overall the album is pretty lame, except for a couple tracks like #7 "Focused Lethality" and #5 "History Of Decline" which are pretty decent. Bottom line, this album can't compare to their original stuff like Extraction From Mortality or their Demo.

does it have "nice deep gutturals"?
