Oddly enough I also listen to Cannibal Corpse to escape from reality and pretend I'm some deranged psychopath, or something like that. I listen to the self-titled Mr. Bungle album for that because it reminds me of the following question:

I completely disagree with the intro to this review. They shouldn't be hated for pretty much bringing the whole gore aspect of death metal to the forefront. Also, using death metal and maturity in the same sentence is stupid imo. This is a genre built on being grotesque and extreme. Maturity is not something to reach for in death metal. A mature death metal band is a boring one if you ask me.

Whether you like it or not CC are generally hated for the reasons stated in the review. That's fine that you don't feel that way, but it doesn't change the prevailing opinion.Also, using death metal and maturity in the same sentence is stupid imo. This is a genre built on being grotesque and extreme. Maturity is not something to reach for in death metal. A mature death metal band is a boring one if you ask me. Maturity and death metal can easily be used in a sentence. From Death's beginning to their final album to the Cynic demos to what they became. Granted they both moved beyond death metal to varying degrees, but it was still maturity. I tried to put that maturity in context through the comparison to the Evil Dead movies, where they don't lose their core they simply refine what they're doing, as CC have done.
