Funny that you mention Frontline Assembly. About a year ago, I was at a used cd store and someone dumped off about 10 of their albums. I picked most of them up and still haven't gotten around to listening to them haha. I think Millenium was one of the one's I bought hahaha.

If you've let that album rot away for a year... I don't know what to say, I think I just died a little inside.

Hahahah I had no idea it was that good. I'm checking right now. I remember there being a bunch of E.P.'s and such.

I'll check these out, thanks.

Hahahah I had no idea it was that good. I'm checking right now. I remember there being a bunch of E.P.'s and such. It's not really "that good" (but it is good). That album was my introduction to real industrial metal so it holds a special place.
Edit: If it makes any difference, all the guitar samples are taken from Metallica, Pantera and Sepultura with all of the live guitar being played by Devin Townsend himself. This Message Edited On 01.24.09

Ok so I'm no expert on the genre but I'm learning lol. Regardless of the fact, I just really don't like this group and had to explain why.
|

i'm far from an expert either don't worry
I'm more grounded in the first wave of industrial then anything else, groups like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, NON, SPK, etc, even then I haven't covered the majority of it. Some of the stuff that comes later such as Swans, Laibach and Foetus I dig quite a lot, but I probably have only scratched the surface of industrial-metal.

Yeah I've heard of a few of those. Swans are just way out there. I'm definately going to look for that book though.

If you wanna write a bad review to seem more objective don't do it to on a great album! Pick on Soulja boy or something :D
This is among there best albums IMO, ignore the review and listen for yourself.

I hate to say it, but soulja boy isn't the only bad artist in the world.

Nice review, kept me from buying this album. Nihil is awesome, but I'm leery of buying KMFDM albums after WWIII, which was paritally good and partially bad, and rarely excellent.

you clearly miss the point of KMFDM's self-referencing and the irony behind the song "sucks", which is probably one of the best songs off the album and a fan-fav

"a drug against war" sounds so good with its massive bpm and simple beat which makes me think of black flag on a drum machine

maybe Lust is the cooler tune though
funny how this release has five remixes of Light and I tend to skip right by it

the bluesy hard-rock guitar soloing on this is kinda at odds with everything else on the album but somehow that makes this fresher than straight-up meathead industrial rock, even with all the aging sampler sounds
this is probably just a 3, some of the songs don't land at all imo but im generally sympathetic to old KMFDM
