If I had to choose one it'd most likely be Controller, but I like that and this so much

Their newest one is far from bad though even further from great

Controller is a lot more polished and clean than this, but I personally enjoy Jesse's vocals better. He sounds much more raw than Karl and fit the "early 2000's" metalcore sound perfectly. Also I agree the riffs in this are unreal... In Summary of What I Am gives me chills every time

I prefer the more technical approach and perfect balance of raw and clean production ala Heavy Townsend of Of Malice, over the (overly) polished production job and more streamlined writing of Controller. Mirrors would be better if the production job wasn't fucked; glad Devin came back but Absent Light was what it could've been even if that also lacks a damn punch that the other 3 had.

"this sounds dumb but i would love a mirrors re-release with dev production"
Tbh I'd like that too, the production on Mirrors was not my cup of tea and really stopped it from being as good as their other albums for me. Plus Karl didn't really sound as monstrous as he could've

not dumb at all, I and many people remember thinking the same thing when it came out

i'd send em some kickstarter cash for it

Controller has one of my favourite modern metal production jobs. The sound of it is almost a quarter of the appeal for that album.

what's cool is the production on transcendence is exactly the same as it was on controller

Been revisiting this a lot lately. "Summer Ended in June" is one of the perfect metalcore songs IMO. I would 5 this, but there's a couple songs that are just okay. I was never a huge fan of the closer. Love the way the bass sounds on this album, too. Has a lot of punch and he has some interesting moments that you don't hear in a lot of metalcore.

Well since Jesse is back in the band there's a chance I'll be able to see the original lineup perform Five Years live.
