just listening to this now and I really don't get what's so great about 40 minutes of slow bm with zero tempo changes, little riff changing per song, and an atmosphere less gripping than Burzum's. :-/ It's like it wants to be a more melodic Burzum but doesn't do it right.

Burzum - lots of slow bm, repetitive riffs to build atmosphere, light synths
This - mostly slow, repetitive riffs, keyboards 4 atmospheres
on a first listen that's basically how I perceive it. This is a lot more melodic and "natural" sounding, but it's like they took the slower stuff Burzum did and ran with it.

common use three extremely basic elements that are employed by pretty much every atmospheric bm project don't really mean anything. the riffs, vocals, melodies, chord choices, and the intended atmosphere are all pretty distinct from burzum. sunwheel could never in a million years be a burzum song.

The first three tracks are orgasmic, Sunwheel is pretty fucking good, Wind of the Night Forests is epic, The First Snow is beautiful trance inducing.... EVERY riff on this album is good, what kind of DUMBASS doesn't love this album?

The drumming on this album is batshit insane and literally every riff is strong as hell. Anyone who rates this lower than a 3.5 needs to slit their throats in front of a moving train.
