one time i got all comfy and set with my headphones to enjoy the wywh album peaking on acid, so excited, put it on and only last like 3 minutes cause i couldnt help but think how the album was a sad homage to syd, the band wishing he was there of course, and the reason why he wasnt was in large part to overindulging in acid

was morbidly ironic i couldnt deal

I'm with ford on The Division Bell. Bland and mediocre album albeit with a really good closer.

I've always really liked The Division Bell. It seems like the negative reaction it got on release was mostly due to people comparing it to their 70s work, which is just the wrong way to think about it in the first place. I understand it's just not to some people's liking in any case though.

I mean I don't dislike it cuz it doesn't compare to their 70s stuff, I fuckin 5'd the final cut man lol

but I know what you mean. that is the wrong way to look at it. I'm all for changing things up but even considering that I just thought it was boring and tepid

Floyd was one of those bands where the whole was greater than the sum of its parts which is why there was a huge drop off in quality after animals

This is top 3 Floyd tho and didn't Rogers write most of it? I find it hard to believe he was solely responsible for the compositions, except for Gilmour co-writing Dogs, but maybe it's true idk

Gilmour wrote essentially all of Dogs except for the lyrics. So if you look at it on songs yeah its 4-1 to Roger, but if you look at it based on total track time David wrote about half the album

yeah, in terms of laying down the tracks the band still sounds very cohesive here tho (for the last time)

Yeah but The Wall still has a bunch of their classic songs, just a little too far in a few places like The Trial haha
