In response to RiceMaster:

I don't see how any self-respecting metalhead can deny the influence of this album. I'm not even a huge Metallica fan, but MOP is pure genious, from Battery all the way to Damage Inc. It elevated metal and hard rock in general, and provided an alternative to the glam-rock crap that saturated most of the 80's. Need I go into the HUGE influence on all the current gen screamo/metalcore bands that are all playing recycled KTA/RTL/MOP riffs?

Its place in the metal pantheon can't be dismissed, even by jaded scenesters who hype bands that have and are ripping off Metallica even today... (cough Shadows Fall, Trivium, cough) MOP is a GREAT album, with some of the best songs/riffs ever concieved in the genre. This album was the perfect balance between Metallica's melodic side and aggressive side. Can YOU write a riff as catchy AND heavy as the opening to Master Of Puppets or Battery? Sit down and tell me how far you get...

Cant agree with you anymore... well put. I find that a lot of people nowadays are talkin crap about metallica (and i guess they deserve it after st. anger) but this album, along with KTA and RTL cannot be ignored, especially with all the influence those albums have on current metal bands

Greatest Album Metallica brought out. Followed by ...And Justice For All then Ride The Lightning. Master Of Puppets (My favorite song of all time) is prolly one of the greatest Metal/Rock songs ever made. Orion, Great Instrumental.

First of all, I'd like to say that I have been listening to Metallica literally since the day that I was born.

How is that possible? :p

Anyone that says that this album sucks is a complete moron. This album is literally the worlds most Metal album.

Don't say things like that. It's probably not true and the genre is too broad. Say something like Lihan, "one of the greatest," it makes more sense.
