ive had cities for a while and thought it was great. just bought new surrender and was pretty blown away given some negativity that surrounds it. it seems like anberlin honed their sound on this. it's a little bit more accessible and U2-esque, and less punk, but i like that.
so i only have those two albums. i should get vital next then?

I likes Vital the best, but this is pretty good. It would would be about even with Cities. I think Friendship is my second favorite album by them, but its pretty close between the 3.
The closer here is probably my favorite Anberlin track.
