AC/DC's fall from grace. You go from an album packed with classic riffs, great solos, and memorable lyrics to the most uninspired drivel.
I never understood the point of them releasing a follow-up album so soon. After the huge success of Back in Black, they were about to embark on a massive tour and their pockets were lined with cash from the sales. They didn't need the money... so why? The huge success of the previous album provided inspiration? Okay... but did anyone actually listen to these songs?
All but two songs off this record are forgettable. The title track is excellent, but drags toward the end. Spellbound, the last track, is decent enough. Every other is song extremely average, with awful choruses and an overuse of gang vocals. The majority of songs are 3-4 minutes long but feel so much longer because they are boring as shit. 'Night of the Long Knives' is a contender for the worst AC/DC song.
I doubt any AC/DC 'fan' could name you a track off here - besides the title track of course.

Night of the Long Knives
Album spanks even though it's beaten by the album that came before and occasionally by the one that came after.

Fozzie nailed the two gems on here for sure, but i enjoy a few others as well. As far as bands releasing albums rather quickly back then, sometimes you gotta strike while the iron's hot - this is not a good representation of that. In the early eighties, there were quite a few great albums released less than a year apart by the same bands.

There is a part of me that does think it'll be Zimmer frame central but I thought that last time and they were amazing, that was a few years back though. Now it'll be colostomy bags, the lot.

It's not that bad. Probably their second or third best album with Brian Johnson. There are are two good songs, most of them are okay. I don't like "Breaking the Rules" and I'm not really a big fan of the last two tracks either.

So many seem to not be big on Long Knives, it's one of the hardest bangers here imo.

Long Knives is fun, I really enjoy the main riff. Album as a whole is pretty much fun but t/t and closer are best on here.
