Yeah both effigy and pierced absolutely body like 99% of the entire genre. This is excellent dm and the prod is fine, but it's not quite on that level

I think musically, this is easily on the same level as Effigy and Pierced.

Production just fucks it. The t/t re-recorded on Pierced just goes to show how sick this could've been.

this goes hand in hand with effigy&pierced they're all bangers. album sounds solid when you crank it but those guitars are definitely too low in the mix lmao, audible bass is a plus/vox sound fine and the drums sound like 80s dm. ultimately plays well on a stereo/car but headphone listenings definitely lackin

If we're talking about production on its own, then yeah, it's okay. Pretty much agree @ BAT. The guitars are the weakest point, way too low in the mix and I think they sound kinda weak (there's a different term I was looking for, but can't think of it lol). Blasting the album definitely helps, and the bass being so audible is a highlight for sure.

But if I'm comparing the production vs Effigy or Pierced, then it's definitely a weak point. The t/t sounds killer with the production on Pierced, and at least imo the song doesn't sound weak or out of place vs the rest of the album. Would've been sweet if they could've re-recorded the whole thing.

definitely agree, i generally enjoy the remake tracks they'd sprinkle on their later albums and wish they'd do the other 4-5 tracks and put it out as like a comp. even a live comp of soundboard mixes or studio demos would be awesome

Yeah that'd be sweet. I jam those a lot too. A full live version of this would be fucking sick.

Do it Ford.

It doesn't deserve it lol. Even suffocation dislike this record cause of the shitty prod. The last record they did is more deserving of a 4.5 than this is.

If the production was better, I'd bump to a 5, easy.

I don't see the relevance @ whether or not the band likes or hates an album of theirs. But their issue is also just the production, not the music. That's why they re-recorded songs from this on later albums. They couldn't do a full remix/remaster. Roadrunner fucked them on this album, which is why it has shoddy production to begin with, and they still own the rights to it.
