I listened the album on the band's bandcamp, and it sounded better than the '90s.
First of all, it sounded heavier overall and the first half of songs sounded stronger, I'm not sure if it's a remaster, although King Diamond said that the weak albums of theirs in terms of production - Them for instance - will receive a massive sonic overhaul.

What startles me about the bc stream is how raw and heavy it sounds.
Apart from the somewhat restrained musical performance and the partial departure from concept stories, I always considered the album to have a relatively sub-par production (especially the drums, where the snare and the kick drums are muddled in several instances), but the stream appears to be a game changer.
