I'm in the same boat. It is really rewarding though when I do put on.

can someone call me when the hype for this album is worth it? Otherwise I'll just listen to an album that actually goes somewhere.

Thanks

They take too long to develop their songs and the outcome is generally predictable. Skim through chunks of each song, and do that for the rest of the album. They do the same thing on every track as far as how their volume is controlled (with 'Jonathan' being the lone exception). It's really underwhelming, sorry. This Message Edited On 12.07.08

I can't believe how long it's taken me to pick this up. Not buying into the hype on first listen though. I mean it's cool for no-frills-but-big-and-loud post rock, but there's better stuff out there.

It's an effort to wade through the melodic sections to reach the awesome climaxes because those quieter sections are on the whole pretty tedious and unimaginative. And like IIL said, the song structures are all so similair.

But who knows, I'll give it time, just difficult not to to want to liten to something else when I play this. Yes I Am is still gold though.
