Whole album is beautiful imagery, although my favorite lyrics are from He Doesn't Know Why.

And you will try to do what you did before

Pull the wool over your eyes for a week or more

Let your family take you back to your

Original mind

He takes what should be such a comforting image and twists it to be so dark.

agreed, such a great song, also:

In the town one morning I went

Staggering through premonitions of my death

I don't see anybody that dear to me

Damn, it's weird how an album with such twisted imagery is still such comfort music to me. Oliver James is pretty dark too, "Oliver James/Washed in the rain/No longer" with that tapping is such a great way to end the album.

yes, as long as it sounds wonderful the lyrics can be bleak and still somehow reassuring i don't know

why (get it), damn this is poignant:

On the kitchen table that your grandfather did make,

You in your delicate way will slowly clean his face.

And you will remember when you rehearse the actions of

An innocent and anxious mother full of anxious love.

I rate them both pretty even, I think Helplessness is a slightly more challenging listen

Didn't their Facebook page hint at it recently?

Doesn't look like the page hinted at it. A bit ago it came up in the Helplessness Blues thread that Robin Pecknold is currently getting his undergrad degree and that the band are on an indefinite hiatus.

Can never discern a lot of the songs on this album for whatever reason. I like it, I know that, but I never quite have a grasp on it. Which is stupid, because it's not even that long, so I find it quite strange and inexplicable. I never had the same problem with Helplessness Blues, though.

I'm actually considering giving that a shot soon. Been a while since I listened to it carefully.
