Burden has a strong resemblance to Faith in Others, which isn't a bad thing per se as I think it's one of the better songs on Pale Communion. I also like the opening riff and the heavy, slow drive of Porcelain Heart.

Fun fact: The length of Burden and Faith in Others is exactly the same (yeah it's right, some call me Sherlock...)

I like Porcelain Heart but it's probably my least favorite song of theirs until Heritage

The verses in burden and that downtuning shit are it's only weak points, the solos and the vocal part of the outro are all sweet

The unnecessary weird outros of The Lotus Eater and Burden are the only real weak points of the whole album for me.

Burden is one of my loved ones but I've listened to it so many times I've got used to it. Unnecessary outro of Lotus Eater is indeed unnecessary, but it's a musical idea I wouldn't want to be rejected. Burden's outro is likeable and Coil is excellent.
