Love how varied this album is and how chaotic it sounds. Alice Practice, Courtship Dating, Vanished are really refreshing listens, some more unimpressive filler but on the whole a good debut.

once again, please sort the genre out, it has nothing to do with techno.

"Courtship Date" is another interesting song, and probably one you've already heard if you've ever listened to "Ayo Technology" by 50 Cent. It hasn't been confirmed, but it's most likely 50 Cent's producer heard this song and thought - that is so freaking cool, I am so gonna use that in my next song and nobody will care because it's just Crystal Castles"

ORRR... the more likely scenario happened.. the producer of 50 cent's song "Ayo Technology" decided, hey i'll use an arpeggiator with 8 bit nintendo presets that have been around for the past 10 years and used by many other bands in the chiptune / 8 bit audio genre" then.. since ayo technology came out first, crystal castles said "hey these sounds are accepted by mainstream audiences, lets make songs with those sounds and modern dance beats, and itll be labeled experimental and new because no one has ever heard of 8 bit chiptune music" and thus indie music fans will love it because there is this new experimental music craze ushered in by radioheads heavy influence by aphex twin and all of warp records artists, (he is known to have ordered the entire backccatalog of warp records in the months where he struggled with extreme writers block before he made kid a) and well if they never really thought that.. thats exactly what their music has amounted to hah.

im diggin this right now. it kinda promises "experimental techno" as you call it with the whole "malfunctioning super nintendo" moments but its really not too crazy if you give the whole thing a listen. either way its a quality dance record
