Commenting so I won't forget I promised Demon to check this.
Lanterns wasn't really my thing, this might perhaps be, we'll see.

This is his creative peak and by some distance, it also has a much darker vibe than much of his later material. Although Lanterns touches upon that, yet it’s nowhere near as cohesive. This is a great example of a true ‘album experience’. Hope you like it.

When I saw this bumped it made me realise how few comments it gets, I needed to do something!

Just now pressed play. Let's see where this is going. First few seconds are cool! Drums are wild and chaotic.

Stay is really cool, love the strings, very tastefully done.
I think Lanterns is a little more heavy on the kitsch, they keep it down a few pegs on this one. Which is very welcome.

I've listened to every Son Lux effort since Lanterns came out and tbh he's a tad too prolific for the quality of work coming out. A lot of it is really samey.

The consistency of this particular release pays off, it’s thematically and musically one piece with sometimes only subtle differences between ideas - it certainly benefits from this cohesion.

I absolutely enjoyed this more than Lanterns. On two tracks the vocalist sang kind of like a creaking old lady though, which wasn't really my thing, but overall this was indeed very cool. Like you said, it flows brilliantly. I'll certainly return to this.

Whoa two new albums in 2020 didn't even notice. Based on the ratings I'm guessing they aren't very good tho lol

If he cut the filler and interlude shit and put all the more substantial tracks onto one album it could have been his best in a bit

Dissolve into plans we made is actually great. Only, involution, and undertow all rule too

Brighter Wounds was good but probably the most forgettable to date imo I dunno probably a toss up between that and new ones. Bones was more memorable but also was just too much, too over the top

But I haven't spent as much time with the new ones and Brighter Wounds as anything else so that might be why, I just lost a substantial amount of interest in Son Lux post Lanterns tbh
