This is interesting. It's a lot of metalcore riffs but no actual breakdowns. Definitely some melodeath in there also but wouldn't call this straight melodeath.

I guess the drums don't breakdown but the guitars do. I call them breakdowns because calling them riffs feels too generous. There's a lot of downtuned 000-000-000 on here. Like the intro of Forlorn Skies is a breakdown, I don't care. Parts of Joel, Atonement, Bombs, I could go on. We can argue semantics, but my original point was just that it's not melodeath because there's some pretty generic metalcore guitar work.

This band sounds like they are constantly (and successfully) fighting the urge to play breakdowns. Like they know they want to, but they're afraid of being called "scene" - which given the 2008 release date may have actually been the case.
