Good review. I don't like Judas Priest all that much, but I have a lot of respect for them. Check out Death's cover of Painkiller.

Nice job man! :thumb: This is a classic album. I'd take Priest over Maiden any day.

I've tried to get into Preist many times, but I just couldn't seem to. I hate the lyrics and themes. I just don't like them much.
And Death's cover kick's all sorts of asses! This Message Edited On 08.08.05This Message Edited On 09.05.06

Priest can really do no wrong. This album totally shows it.
In "Painkiller," they refined a new approach on "metal" that they somewhat had in the "Ram it Down" album. It's possibly the heaviest album with Halford (it outdoes the new Angel of Retribution) and is definitely one of their best albums.
Several highlights of the album include "Painkiller," "Touch of Evil," "Night Crawler" and "Battle Hymn/One Shot At Glory"
there really isnt a bad song on this album though, Its the beginning of the modern Priest.
Among some of Priest's amazing discography which i recommend are:
-Sad Wings of Destiny
-Stained Class
-Screaming for Vengeance
-Defenders of the Faith
hell, just close your eyes and pick a priest album, you won't be dissappointed (unless its turbo, which in that case you might wanna try again...not that its a bad album, but it just doesnt compare)
Long Live the Priest!!!

I dont think British Steel, Rocka Rolla, or Point of Entry compare to their better albums either.

I might get this....the song Painkiller is just plain amazing (both the Judas Priest version and the Death cover). And frankly, lyrics this bad take a true genius to write.

i saw them play painkiller live, it was amazing

Death's cover kicks booty.

I dont see why somebody would be bothered by the somehow awkward lyrics. I consider the whole album to be a tribute to heavy metal and the definition of heavy metal. It's mind blowing and insanely crushing. It's a punch in the stomach, it's sooo...METAL m/

i just bought Judas Priest Metal Works '73-'93 to see if i want to get into this band and so far i think so lol painkiller is awesome btw

Priest's best album imo. Not a weak track at all, though I don't really like Touch of Evil that much. The lyrics are a little cheesy on some songs, but it doesn't bother me too much. I like Scott Travis' drummin on the album, especially on the title track. The bonus track on the remaster "Living Bad Dreams" is pretty good, too.
Highlights: Painkiller, Leather Rebel, Metal Meltdown, All Guns Blazing

Classic!
I'm not a fan of Death's cover, though.

Probably Priest's best metal release. Although their best metal tracks, to me, are Ram It Down and Hard As Iron, I think that Painkiller is the album to recommend to any newcomers.
