Hey- I don't normally get involved in things like this, but let me defend hard-liner TOOL fans from that "learn 2 swim" character. I read that and was disgusted. He doesn't even know what he's talking about and it's unfortunate that somebody can twist TOOL's art into something completely contrary to its point. I suppose that's the problem with allowing your listeners to draw their own opinions from beautifully constructed metaphor.

This album is fucking amazing.

Fast Fingers, if you say that Danny isn't the best drummer on earth.

Who is that then.

It's not Danny, believe me. Listen to metal and jazz and you will begin to understand.

wikuk, you're naive. Once again, you're getting all defensive. Let's put it this way, no matter how good a drummer is, there is will always be a better drummer out there. The unintelligent might think this doesn't make sense, but it does. First of all, you can't just measure everyone's skill on a scale when it comes to drumming, or anything for that matter. Second, you can't know everyone in the world. Third of all, I bet there are hundreds of drummers out there better than Danny. Fourth, just because he's technical, and creative, there's no way to prove that he is the best. Finally, it's not a goddamn competition. Danny Carey is an artist, who makes beautiful music. Therefore, there's no reason for him to be the best. His skill is only incidental. This Message Edited On 10.27.05

wikuk, what you fail to grasp is this: There is NO answer as to who is the best drummer in the world. Even if there was, it certainly would not be Danny Carey, or Joey Jordison, or Meg White.

ocelot, you're right, there is no answer to say which drumer is best, but how do you a certain jazz drummer is while danny isn't. maybe it's someone from LP or Korn we all don't know, but it's just fun to argue with that subject.

I think the point was that Danny isn't the most technically skilled drummer out there nor does he play the most complex music. That isn't debatable.
