All people expect from Weezer is another Pinkerton or Blue Album. Well, in case you haven't notice, it isn't going to happen.

That said, this album is pretty good. I like the New Wave song "This Is Such a Pity" and "Perfect Situation" the most.

It is definitly better than Green or Maladroit, which means it's the best in like 10 years, so no more complaining.

I'd give the album about a 3. Relative to other Weezer album's I'd say it's horrible, but by itself it's decent. My biggest problem with it is the lyrics though.

Excellent review! I really enjoyed this album, but it still can't touch Pinkerton or
the Blue Album. The Damage in You Heart is probaly my favorite song from the
album, with Perfect Situation as a close second.

I honestly don't see why so many people think its terrible. Its like not listening to
Physical Grafity just because its not as good as Led Zeppelin IV...This Message Edited On 06.02.05

Ok review, a bit of overating here and there. I think that Make Believe is total crap compared to the other Weezer albums but apart from that, it's ok..i guess.

Good review. I'm a Weezer fan, but not avid by any means. I have not actually come to expect anything from them, however. Weezer, though a good band, does not seem to me to be as serious as a lot of other bands. That's exactly what makes them such a great band, though. They are just fun to listen to. I like how they can relax and make songs like "We are all on drugs" And I thought Beverly Hills was a hillarious song. I could never expect Weezer to have an album that would blow away the masses, but I would expect them to have albums exactly like they do. I think I should get this album.

I kind of see this as a "rebirth" album.

Since Pinkerton, Rivers has been anti-social and never really wanted to be a part of anything. Now he has written songs like "Best Friend" and "Pardon Me".

I personally think it was a very good album. Not quite up to par with Blue and Pinkerton, but it holds its own. I have a feeling most of the "it's awful" comments are coming from disgruntled Pinkerton fans.

Hate hate hate Beverly Hills, but thats the only bad part of this album. Its not Pinkerton or Blue Album, but its still very close to it! Highly reccomended over Maladroit and Green Album.

Overall, I'm starting to wonder if these are the same guys who sang “Teenage Dirtbag.”

Make Believe is only a fair creation, but my personal favorite Weezer album is still Pinkerton . Now that's a damn fine album.

Why does everybody like "My Best Friend"? I can't stand the song yet it has the best guitar solo on this record. Well besides that song, this record's pretty good. Its a pickup from green and maladroit. IMO, Rivers's songwriting dropped to a low point at Green and has gradually improved. Who knows? Maybe their next album will stand up there with the first 2.

I saw this live thing of Weezer on MTV2 the other day. It was horrible. River's voice just seems so mundane and boring. I've heard most of this album, and it's not that great, at all. I'd give it somewhere near a 2. Sometimes I wish that they would just stop completely.

Why is everyone getting the artist screwed up for that stupid "Teenage Dirtbag" song. Yesterday I was flipping radio stations and the DJ announced it as Weezer's new one, it ticked me off, but correct me if I am wrong isn't that a song by some blink 182 wannabe band called Wheatus or something.

I love this one. Listening to it, it makes me feel good. Their best one since Pinkerton and my second fave Weezer album.
