DEFEND PEOPLE LISTENING TO BOARDS OF CANADA

i know it's an overdone comparison, but BoC and Autechre in some ways almost seem like Doppelgangers, yet at the same time kind of polar opposites: they learned from each other and in a lot of ways are very similar in terms of sound, just delivering from opposite ends of the emotional and physical spectrum. they also both contributed around the same amount of influences to their respective scene(s) (IDM and ambient I suppose), only in very different but kinda similar ways. the two of them is almost a perfect balance. they're exactly the same yet vastly different.
maybe I'm over-thinking this but at the end of the day, they're the two most creative and innovative musical duos I've ever heard. Oh, look - another parallel.

the dudes from autechre are just the dudes from boards of canada only from a seperate timeline where computers completely take over in the 1980s and they programmed them

Autechre are way more akin to Aphex Twin (Especially in their earlier material) than these guys (SAW predates any Autechre material so I'm fairly certain they were influenced by him to an extent before moving on to be their own thing completely)
All the three big names from Warp have taken influences from each other to varied levels though, yeah.

obvious theories aside, BoC and AE have hung out with each other before so I'm not surprised if they bounced ideas or questions, prob same with RDJ
|
| |
I BELIEVE they said yes to hanging out with RDJ as well during their AMA on Wearethemusicmakers last year.
What I do remember they said though was that at one point Aphex made a track as sort of taking the piss innocently at one of Autechre's tracks, something Autechre answered to on LP5. Supposedly RDJ made a reply to that too but never released it cuz they all have better things to do than going back and forth like that
