Giving this a 3 or 3.5 is hardly "naysaying" though.

Doof's right, tho. Few classic jams save this from mediocrity.

There's so much going on in this lyrically and musically. If I was an english teacher I could make a whole lesson on analyzing this beast

I guess i'm not entirely used to the rating scale than. If only a few songs save this from mediocrity I don't see how this could be a great album for anyone.
I'm only poking fun, I don't mind if someone likes this less than I do, but it's still blasphemy! This isn't even my Favorite Floyd, but I'll be damned if this isn't a classic.

it's one of those gateway albums
how you look back on it years later? hell, it's a bit nostalgic to think about it

this is one of 'those albums' that the kids aren't taking to Jeff

Nah, nostalgia ain't the main factor here for me; It's a timeless record. I loved it as a kid and I love it even more as an adult. Hell, my dad who's 20 years older than I am still loves it, even my kid likes this record and he's a little punk, but he's got a knack for great shit like I did. I could never consider this a Gateway album, maybe for getting into the rest of Floyd's discography, but as a whole for music; no way! I don't put this on and go man I remember this 30 years ago and relive it when I was too busy with broads and screwing around with my buds! If anything I understand this record a lot more than I did back then. All I knew was "Hey, This sounds fucking great to spark a joint to!" Haha, boy have times changed. I still spin it because it continues to sound fucking awesome. The Wall is essential just as the other great Floyd records are.
"this is one of 'those albums' that the kids aren't taking to Jeff"
That's fine bro they can listen to whatever bullshit they want those damned snot nosed brats! ;)
Maybe I'm out of touch Titan! Ha
AM I TOO OLD IS IT TOO LATE!? The Show Must Go On! https://m.imgur.com/p0HUWPZ I still jam it in my shitty little basement

"I guess i'm not entirely used to the rating scale than. If only a few songs save this from mediocrity I don't see how this could be a great album for anyone."
Yeah to be fair my 3.5 for this may be a tad generous. I dunno, disc 1 is really good but disc 2 is kind of a chore imo.

For real? With songs like Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, Waiting for the Worms and The Trial? Man, I love this album, it's so vibrant.

Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell are top tier yeah, rest i'm not so buzzed about.

"Hey, This sounds fucking great to spark a joint to!"
But this is their most paranoid and depressing album. Actually the joint-compatibility decreases with each PF album.
A tip for the mediocre guitarist: The acoustic part on Is There Anybody Out There? is very easy and satisfying to play.
