I don't think communism is that "big" for Waters to even make an album about it. He ain't no commie but he's certainly a left-winged guy. I see most of Animals as a criticism to the UK/USA (or at least to pretty much any super power) rather than just the USSR. The Falkland wars was one of the main influences for that album after all

heroin is overrated

There's just no way you could make this a literal wall in any scenario. Everything points to this being about him becoming emotionally drained(arguably close to being a sociopath) to the point of building a "wall" around him.
Communism wasn't a literal wall either, except for in Germany. They isolated themselves from the rest of the world (the USSR).

How? This would go directly against the themes of the piece of work they wrote the album around.

Waters hated Thatcher and has always been one of the most important critics of the Falkland's War. Again, I'm not saying he's a commie, I really doubt he likes the USSR, but his hate for british conservative politics is even bigger

When I say this albums has communist themes I mean anti-communism shown through the oppression in the lyrics.

Yeah I can see that. There's a whole dictatorial imaginery in the final part of the album after all. But why specifically communism? as I said, it could be a critic to pretty much any super power, specially conservative ones if we take in count Waters political view

"Wasn't the concept of Animals about how capitalism can ruin society? Like they literally had an entire song about how you just end up stabbing people in the back over greed and power."
Yeah, it is based in Animal Farm after all

"Na I think I'm done with concept albums like they're so draining especially on time"
Your done with concept albums? Animals is a concept album and I saw you say that it's become your favourite album ever...

Some people here may be confusing concept album with double album
|
| |
Thick as a Brick is actually a parody of prog concept albums and taking the piss but it's actually better than all serious concept albums such is Ian Anderson's genius.

Also you should check The Final Cut as it will serve as an eye opener to the themes this album is centered on. It strips away the fictional story that he somewhat hides behind on here in favour of baring his "naked feelings" as he puts it in the title track.

Someone's recommending The Final Cut?
*gasp*
