Lol, such a predictable show, I could pretty much guess each winner even before they announced them.

is it just me, or has the last few years of the ARIA's been white-washes for the winners, like Silverchair and Missy Higgins last year cleaned up for every category, Presets and Cilmi did thi year

I really never saw what all the fuss was about until I heard This Boy's In Love. That song is amazing. It's catchy and beautiful, which in my opinion, is a very rare combination. I now look forward to giving the rest of the album a closer listen.

Im a Living End nut, and i thought that white noise was a great album and deserving of album of the year, so when these guys won i was rather dissapointed. however im in need of some change, and i hate disco music so i'm interested to hear this. even though i dislike this genre, the guy has the best techno voice i have heard. reminds me of the side band green day made ('The Network')

the ARIA's are a joke. Everyone knows that. I tend to ignore them these days, considering they ignore anything that hasn't touched the top 10.

People buy records for a reason...

Because they're catchy, accessible. Not necessarily because they're musical achievements. Cog, TBE, Karnivool, Birds of Tokyo...they're never going to win an award and they're better than most of the 'rock' bands up for an award.
But my main irk is that the ARIAs completely ignore Australias biggest music scene - hardcore.

thats because Australian Hardcore is bad. in fact iv'e started a band just to stand out from all that crap. every local band is hardcore. it shits me to tears.

I'll admit alot of it sounds the same, there's a fair amount of metalcore and grindcore too. But I'm sure there are SOME innovators out there.

Not in the small local area of victoria :D
screamo all round!

I meant innovators WITHIN screamo/hardcore. The few bands a friend of mine has shown me from around here (west sydney)...they seem ridiculously generic...apart from one, which was more of a novelty than actually innovative (switching from hardcore to techno etc)

haha fair enough. we're bringing back the classic metal vibe. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest with a bit of living end and van halen influence.
