Summary: A fuzzily recorded demo, packed with tons of energy, and emotion; a sort of gem out of a lo-fi local scene.

1 of 1 thought this review was well written

Mathcore. God I hate that term. Luckily, Faithealers' second demo doesn't fit the description, so the ignorant can't make it sound unnecessarily lame with a stupid tag.

Fuzzily produced, raw, emotional verses, brief dissonant breakdowns, melodic clean phrases, and busy, intricate drumming provide the perfect background for raspy angst filled screams and telephone distorted spoken parts. Drawing influences from older acts such as 7 Angels 7 Plagues, as well as screamo acts like Circle Takes The Square, We Will Turn Your Cemeteries Into Our Cathedrals, And Your Cities Into Tombs is a very unique 11 minutes of music. Each track has it's own identity to it, yet flows to and from the next and previous in a natural sort of way.

The first track, Cannot Die starts with adoomy riff and transitions into a simple baseline with dissonant guitarwork over top. The ending breakdown is especially enjoyable, something of the chunkier more musical sort, as opposed to a dun-dun-dun I WANT TO SEE YOU DANCE type breakdown. Lyrics consist of "I have eyes so I can see. I have ears so I can hear. So I have a mouth so I can speak, and I have a brain so I can think."

The second track, Flower Of Flesh And Blood, opens with melodic soft guitars and a spoken part by Faiza repeating, "This language is forbidden, this language must not be spoken." The intro builds into a very Circle Takes The Square sounding screamo section, followed by an ambient section similar to something out of the current southern Christian indie scene in the US, and some overlapping spoken sections of the Faiza and Rusty.

Human Waste (The Long Haul), the final track, is another doomy influenced metalcore song, with southern styled breakdowns. Matt's vocal performance on this song is especially appealing, switching from distorted throaty screams, to voice breaking emotional shouts. The song gradually builds into a strange ambient section with layers of speaking, screaming, and shouting that lasts for about 2 minutes, then goes into a movie clip, "...and I swear to God, I hate cops to the max..." and closes with a 15 second grind part.

on last.fm, there's three artist descriptions for architects, the 3rd one fit the bill, and it said they changed their name... went on their myspace, and shazzam! new version of homes plays.
