It's a good listen, but the blatant Agalloch/Brave Murder Day jerking on this album really dampens its effect.

Don't like Agalloch much (so whatever their influence here is, I like this take on it better), and I've never heard old Katatonia (plus I doubt I'd like it better than their newer stuff) so I guess I've got nothing to worry about ;)

Sorry guys, I've tried, I really have. Ashes is a great album but the last 3 instrumental tracks just kind of fall flat after multiple listens for me. The mantle's just boring. Haven't heard Pale Folklore, though I have a feeling I'd like it better than their other albums.

This is really easy to listen to, it never forces a feel or mood, it's just there and it takes me, and it's only 40 minutes long, the perfect length for how they play I think. Shorter and it would loose impact, longer and it would drag/become repetitive.

I think I'm just in the right overall place in my life for finding this, it's like it's something that's exactly what I was looking for, but didn't know until I'd heard it. Peaceful, uplifting, but still sort of sad doom. The rain atmospherics slay me.

Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor is fucking underrated. Pale Folklore is overrated up the ass. Try the first album and the Grey EP. Might as well get P.F too.

Not really, but anywho, since everyone likes this kind of folky metal. Everyone get Omnio from In The Woods... One of the best modern metal records fucking period. This Message Edited On 01.15.09
