Well, it also depends. I also like some nonsensical and 'crazy' stuff lyrically partly, often more so than I like the so called 'deep' stuff which seems often just so.. obvious and eh.
I mean don't get me wrong, I also care for lyrics but it also varies with each rapper. And honestly, I just don't always understand what Aesop is saying without a high count of repeated listens or reading up on it. But e.g. one of the rappers who's put out some of my favorite material is a huge 'lyricism' guy besides his flow (Busdriver).

Wolfehorde is trying really hard not to say the word pretentious right now.

I'd hazard to say that the delivery on No Regrets beats the delivery on anything on skelethon, even though songs like Zero Dark Thirty and Fryerstarter come close

Skelethon is the only Aesop Rock I might end up giving a rating higher than a 3

Aesop's very hit 'n miss, for me. The time I started growing out of him was the time I started growing into appreciating full albums much more than I appreciated artists strictly for tracks.
That being said, Aesop's still fun to listen to now and then, even if he falls pretty low on the totem pole of Hip Hop I Listen To

ZZZ Top, Saturn Missiles, Zero Dark Thirty. Although I think those are rather different songs, tie for me because No Regrets was THE rap song of my last summer.

Can't see it. Is it Y&G?

"btw the new Baroness is streaming so idk why you guys care about this guy anyway"
A) Because Skelethon leaked and B) Because Skelethon > Y&G and because Y&G is probably their worst.

"And honestly, I just don't always understand what Aesop is saying without a high count of repeated listens or reading up on it."

I was thinking about this the other day because one of my friends said something similar, and I feel like Aesop Rock's lyrics are more about creating images and evoking thoughts than having a concrete meaning to them. Not like that is supposed to make you appreciate them anymore, I don't really get a lot of his lyrics either but I like them anyways because of the words he strings together and stuff, it's like a "I don't know what he just said but it sounds cool" thing

I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand this.
