This is awesome. But I prefer The Gathering showcasing more "frailty" with a lighter production like on Home and HTMAP.

But mostly, Souvenirs is awesomely awesome.

Yeah, this is incredible. I have it on good authority that this retains its sense of magic in the long run (fairly new 5 for me)

It does. It'll stay with you.

There kind of is nothing like it, and it works so well that I've always wondered why this vibe wasn't more widespread.

what is “Telson” … pre album bonus track? Didn’t even know that was a thing

Regardless… Best band. Best album 🥰

Oh yeah isn't that a track where you rewind when track one is playing and there's more in front of it that you wouldn't hear otherwise?

Always felt so cheated when those were there. Rewinding on CDs sucks. That skipping sound, ugh. Hate it.

Also yes RE the love for this, it is true.

This band's 1995-2003 run is so underrated. Even with the high scores here it's like no one talks about them.

I feel like over the last couple of years a small but very dedicated following for that era emerged here. We talk about the Anneke era a lot. If anything, the album you've omitted, Home, is the one that is not discussed a lot. Which is a pity because it's one of their finest if you ask me.

What's your top 3?

Are you in the right place? / Mixed the years up maybe?

to be fair in the context of this band’s excellence, they could always stand to be a little more popular so I don’t necessarily disagree, but considering the relative serene pace of Sput, tG’s ‘golden era’ is bumped fairly often

Yeah that last bit is exactly what I meant. Also ahahahaha at word choice of 'serene'. Perfect.

This album blew me away when I relistened to it last night. These Good People and You Learn About It are S tier tracks.

Where do I go from here?

Hard yes and yes to both of those suggestions.

🥰

Perhaps Home might be your thing too. It's like this in a way, but different of course.

"^^Electro Ulver, if you haven't already."

I don't necessarily disagree with this in principle but erm, is this relevant to tG or a joke I'm missing?

Home makes sense after this I think, but all those albums are excellent

There's this strange overlap between Ulver and The Gathering for some reason, I can't exactly put my finger on it but it's there. They're very different as well though, that's for sure.
