It's different in that Metalcore is one of those umbrella genres that ends up with extremely different sounding stuff stuck underneath it. It's less jazzy, more core-y. And not that similar to DEP overall.

You guys should check my dig, Recluse - Fading Into Darkness, Drowning In Myself. Dudes are
hardcore/post/shoegaze, and they nail that surprisingly well. That and New Vegas - Post Tenebras Spero
