Eh, each to their own. I don't rate albums this high purely on technicality.
I feel Ler & Herb's contribution to this album is enormous. Primus work together well as a jam band unit, Ler has some excellent fills & subtle leadwork up his sleeve whilst Herb lets rip with some solid drumming. They anchor Les well, and though it is an acquired taste because their odd timings and personal sense of humour come out in the music, together they write some solid material.
It is essentially, what makes this a band and not the complete and total bass playing wankfest Primus often get criticised for being. The album works on many other levels apart from the dominant instrument here.
