This album and Jane Doe are tied as my favorite of their albums.

The Saddest Day was the song that brought me into metalcore.

Oh come on, it's way above a 3.5, even if you don't like the album, the influence it's had alone boosts that rating.

Impossible to give this anything below a 4, I'm just a hair away from giving it a 5.

I would have kept the swastika but a bunch of women had to complain about it.

I'm listening to Farewell Note now. This album just means so much to me. I can't explain it, I just find it to be so incredibly beautiful, more so than Jane Doe. Awesome review, and an even better album. This will always be a 5/5 for me

this album... meh. its ok, i mean some PARTS of songs are great, and its easy to see how metalcore got its start... but im just not feeling the songs as a whole. id personally rather listen to sleepytime gorilla museum and itd be just the same, only not metal but somehow cooler.

The members of Converge struck me as complete a-holes but that's got nothing to do with the music. They're a very important band and this album blew my mind when I first heard it. The effect has faded over the years but they've still got a lot of respect for me and metalcore just wouldn't be the same without them.

shadows fall WERE metalcore when teh yfirst came out cos i twas post nu-metal and metal was hugely hated at the time. so shadows fall and god forbid had to kind of break the hardcore scene. i rememeber byron davis of god forbid saying in an interview in kerrang! once. but SF were always more metally and their last few albums have been metal.

anwya bakc to converge. jake bannon sadi in kerrnag that when he wrote this he didnt feel liek he was fully accomplished and i think he said that he finally felt liek a proper and accomplished songwriter after jane doe. I perosnally love nealry all converge, jane doe is porbably the best though. but DEP and converge are NOTHING like eahc otehr you are quite right there subtle

I can't decide between this and Jane Doe. More importantly, this album is mind bogglingly good.

I like this album a lot. I actually like "Farewell Note" better than "The Saddest Day" but the album doesn't have any bad tracks. Almost flawless. Almost.
