I think Sonic is one of the inspirations of their new album.

The riffs are stale and they did nothing new on this album. The solo's however are the best part of the album!

Personally, I thought this was their best album yet, and it gets my Album of the Year vote.

yea heard about that, no dates for boston though , oh well. Anyways I would definetly take this over Doomsday Machine this is second only to Wages of Sin in the Gossow era. Favorite tracks are Vultures and In This Shallow Grave.

Arch Enemy rules live. I'm sure the songs on this album will sound better live as well.

I have two albums from Arch Enemy (this and Anthems Of Rebellion) and i think this is better. Is there any other AE albums that i should get or are those the only 2 worth getting because i heard that they are the best? This Message Edited On 04.18.08

Everything before Wages of Sin is worth looking at, especially Stigmata and Burning Bridges. Then move onto Wages of Sin and Doomsday Machine after, Anthems of Rebellion wasn't really that great in my opinion, however each album of theirs certainly has something to bring back home.

I heard some of Stigmata and i thought it sucked pretty bad.

Wages of Sin was their only solid album. Their old lead singer sucked and this was their worst performance to date. Anthems of Rebellion and Doomsday Machine have their good and bad moments.

Yeah their old lead singer was really, really terrible.

I can imagine for someone who went from Angela to Johan would find the transition between the two "styles" would be a difficult experience, however... Stigmata yields many good tracks in my opinion. Such as Stigmata, Bridge of Destiny and Black Earth. Burning Bridges is even better, most of its tracks being very decent indeed; The Immortal, Fields of Desolation '99 (only on the Japanese release), Pilgrim, etc..
Johan may have been terrible, but not to the degree the it is un-listenable.

I dont think it was unlistenable, but its not something that i personally would listen to. Im just going to stick with the Angela era of Arch Enemy.

i don't see why so many people like this. in my opinion it's easily Arch Enemies worst release to date. Wages of Sin being their best.

I used to love it, but it got boring after too long. The only area this excels at is technicality.
Still more interesting than Doomsday Machine. This Message Edited On 06.07.08
