Not q as consistent but the peaks are on par
Have just realised that every ISIS album from this to ITAOT has a highlight opener, a lowlight track 2 and a relatively template track 3 hmmm

i get totally lost in this thing. it has a quality that none of the other albums have for me, a perfect balance of all the isis ~things~ in one package that hits like no other album when the mood is right
tracks like Weight are just totally quintessential post-rock you can feel the genre's essence seeping out of the movements in that thing, it's breathtaking honestly

think The Other was the first ISIS song i heard and umm yeah no regrets about skipping straight to Panopticon lol
majority of this is defs special though. these tracks develop so smoothly but pack such huge HEFT that I wanna say is absent from the rest of the discog up until the very very end (and that the way Threshold of Transformation calls back to the same level of brutishness is just one of the reasons it's a perfect send-off)

the way the electronics are used here is so raw and almost rudimentary but also so soothing and dream-like

am making the call that the only music that matters this week is ISIS and the Field (and maybe Kayo Dot and Vladislav Delay on backup) let's eat

Isis is the greatest post metal band and this is the greatest post metal album of all time yeah.
Someone sold me the double 180g black vinyl in like 2014 for only 30 bucks on discogs and it was (and still is) in pristine condition and there's no way it was worth that little and wherever they are today, bless them.

If I had to rank em I'd put neurosis just over ISIS. This is probably on par with my fav neurosis tho (tsib). Both probably top 5 albums oat for me
