Holy shit this album is even better now than it was when I first started listening to it, and I even loved it back then. Freddy is one hell of a vocalist and Doris might be the best female vocalist that I've heard on a black metal album.

I'm really considering bumping this up to a 5. Everything on this album is that good. Definitely one of the best symphonic black metal albums that I've heard.

Well I've never heard of Krohm, but for Catamenia I would say get some Agathodaimon, Blessed in Sin, newer Carpathian Forest, Graveworm, Illnath, Naglfar, Nokturnal Mortum, Old Man's Child, newer Rotting Christ, Vesania, or some Wintersun. You would probably like all of those.

Try Blessed In Sin - Melancholia for some great melodic black metal with some good guitar in it

Wintersun doesnt really fit into the BM category hawkes :/

Not completely, but they have some similarities to melodic black metal.

I didn't call them black metal completely. I consider Wintersun melodic black/death with folk metal influences. But yeah get that Blessed in Sin album. It rules. I actually just started listening to it right now.

Yeah I don't really see them as power metal at all.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is in the top 10 symphonic black metal albums I've ever heard. I really fucking love this.

Damn right whoa lol.

Wintersun is clearly power metal by structure, and over indulgent in the faggish folk meledoies at that. Whatev, new Chthonic albums gonna slay.

I can't fucking wait for the new album. Hopefully its just as good as this which I'm assuming it will be. And I'm just going to throw this out there, Freddy is one of the best vocalists in black metal.

He sounds like he's tearing his throat on this album, it's very raw but he does indeed rule. They need to be heavier this album, drop the symp[honics a bit, and continue experimenting with the ur-hu and Doris vocals.
