I've often had a hard time explaining why I prefer TSC to this album when the musicianship is so good on this one, but listening to it again after a number of years - its largely because the heavy moments tend to be the worst parts of the album. It's the same problem I have TDEP after Miss Machine. I don't mind that its self indulgent, I don't mind that its tongue in cheek, but at the end of the day your songs still need to be gripping - and this album loses that every time they head into another passage of meandering and pointless chugging.

I somewhat agree with the above. On their first three albums the heavier sections were more well written and definitely more engaging.



However, White Walls is phenomenal.
