Why you guys think this is drastically different than their past albums I'll never know. The vocals are improved but still bad.
But yeah, anyone going "at least they dropped the core lolosols" are just saying so to have an excuse to like this. This is not different from their past albums. Half-assed thrash influence and slightly more aggressive parts didn't do much.

except i kinda liked some of the songs on shadows are security, and this album is slightly different from that one, ie less core. A 4 is waaaaay too high for this one though, it doesn't deserve more than a 3 imo.
it's not like im prejudiced against metalcore anyway, there's just alot of really garbagy poppy stuff in the genre like bleeding through and atreyu.

WHAT! Trivium tried to be Metallica wannabe's, they did succed but the wrong metallica, its sounds like St. Anger with solos.
|
| |
Even though I dislike As I Lay Dying, Trivium are in a whole nother ballpark of suck.

Thank you for that robin Sylentecho help me out here, I noticed you have an interesting list of favorite bands with AILD being one of them. With that being said what exactly do you dislike about this record? And no I'm not here to challenge your opinion because I don't believe people can be 'wrong' about taste.

I liked Triviums first two albums, I thought they were really solid. But when The Crapade was released, I lost all respect for them.
An Ocean Between Us feels like AILD lost some steam. Compared to Shadows Are Security, there isn't really any explosive, energetic vibe from this album. But, perhaps that's just me.
|
| |
I didn't feel that vibe on Shadows Are Security either.

- Album gets a 2.5 from me.
- Trivium redefine the word 'suck'.
- The vocals aren't that bad.

- fine

I cannot stand this band.... nor any band like this...

Ok, I redownloaded, and listened through the first 4 tracks. My opinion hasn't changed, except that they should have never gotten rid of their original singing bassist. That guy was the best part of the band. The new guy can't hold a candle to him.

No wonder the vocalist sounded different..
Anyway, this album is not that bad, at least significantly better than some of their earlier material I would say.

Clint got married and left the band.
I think.
I just listened to 'Confined', and as generic as you may call it, it really shows how much better of a singer Clint was then the new guy. The chorus is badass.

I think Through Struggle shows off Clint's vocals the best.

@ ToWhatEnd, I dont think this album deserves a 4 dude....that why I give it a 2.5 I expected a lot more, maybe thats why Im irritated at them.
They have these stupid clean vocals, thrash riffs, gothenburg riffs and death metal riffs all in one song most of the time which just makes this whole album a shambles.
|
| |
Other then including the name of a Swedish city, what the hell is a gothenburg riff?
