"I don’t believe it’s possible to change ratings on mobile but i could be wrong"

I've been doing it for at least a decade at this point, lol

yeah i've always just been of the mindset that taking the foundation they built and infusing more melody/less robotic inflection (especially vocally) into it was the key to my enjoyment tbh

hence why stuff like Periphery works for me (helps that I love Spencer's 00's-emo-coded vocal style) and this is a bit of a tough pill.

Nothing has Straws and Rational but the back half of this makes it the best Shug imo

nothing is insane. they're pretty close. im j so impressed by the consistency of this basically just being one giant song and how seamlessly its threaded together, while constantly throwing down some of their best riffs

I love Nothing but honestly it feels a bit aimless from time to time. This one feels like a really deliberate journey. I would love if they did something like this again

You think they should though? It wouldn't be like the old days where they'd play Catch33 front to back live. They didn't play Bleed last time I saw them we figured it's because that song is so hard to play every day and they're not so young anymore lol

nothing is too slow to compare favorably to the previous two albums which are just the right amount of savagery. nothing is also not quite technical and mindbending enough to compare to their later output like koloss or violent sleep or this very record here.

its either the raw energy of early shuggah or the songwriting prowess of later shuggah for me, nothing and obzen kind of fall into a transitionary position, which i do not feel quite as strongly about.

nothing being slower is a big part of the appeal imo lol really feel the grooves on that one, plus it gets mad heavy on stuff like nebulous. gotta jam violent sleep but koloss is fine but def didnt stick w me the same way

The 20th anniversary is hitting in 2025 so maybe we'll get a remaster (not like it needs it) and a full album tour.
