Yeah for sure, guy is a phenomenal producer. And he got his start in Hamilton! lol

This is the only Dylan I've heard between Slow Train Coming and Time out of Mind so far, but I'm kind of excited to check out his "bad" records.

For a second I thought you were saying that this, Slow Train Coming, and Time Out of Mind were the only Dylan records you had heard, lol.

lol they're all strong albums though imo! I probably wouldn't have checked out Slow Train Coming at this point yet (only got really into Dylan a couple months ago), but my dad practically forced me to listen to it as it's one of his favourites, a bit surprising since he's been a hardcore atheist his whole life.

STC definitely ain’t bad. Just not anything special. I think Infidels is an underrated one, his only good 80s album other than this

yeah I agree the songwriting on STC isn't particularly great. It's one of the best sounding records of his I've listened to so far though, really full and clear. And yeah I'm excited for Infidels, hope it lives up to its amazing cover.

"Checked this out after hearing Lanois on WTF, he touches on the recording of this and Time out of Mind. Really interesting guy."

Ha, same dude. I had checked this out years ago I think but totally forgot it. It's not top tier Dylan but some great stuff here.

Getting kind of off topic here, but as someone who's from there, it's so funny hearing Maron talk about Hamilton. Sounded like he had a hard time processing Brian Eno staying there for a bit with Lanois (not sure how much you listen to WTF or heard Marc talk about Hamilton before but he was quite vocal about his time filming a movie there in 2019 lol. Mentions it in the Jim Carrey pod too).

Haha it definitely felt like Marc was trying to reign in his dislike of it to be polite. I dunno, I like Hamilton, only ever really spent a day or so at a time though. Seeing Lanois at a big church there a few years ago was really awesome.

Slow Train Coming is one of my favorite Dylan albums. Sure, the songwriting is pretty silly at times but the production is amazing and most of the album shines.

Yeah it sounds great. I threw on my dad's old LP and was pretty blown away.

In the middle of Dylan deep dive lately and this might be my favorite. It is so impressive what Lanois is able to pull out of an artist. See his work with Neil Young as well.
