'Beethoven is complex just for the sake of being complex'

If Beethoven lived now he'd probably play in BTBAM

'Beethoven is complex just for the sake of being complex, his music sounds cold and distant to me. I
prefer some of Mozart's much simpler symphonies.'

-Weirdly enough, the very reason I like beethoven so much is because there's so much more emotion in
his music than other/earlier composers IMO. If you're going to accuse anyone of being complex for the
sake of it, i think late-period Bach is a perfect example

Mozart is incredibly pretentious. Still wrote some good stuff, but Beethoven is superior.

I don't even like free jazz....but if you can't feel the emotion in say, the 14th quartet, or some of his lat trios, then i'd say you're being obsinate. Plus i'd say it was the opposite way round as per Mozart and Beethoven's writing styles, Mozart's early stuff especially is formulaic as hell

i'm sensing an 'agree to disagree' on the horizon
