(this concerns the remaster, which I presume represents their final vision of the album)
their best work by far. bloated, though. follow 'Break the Same' with 'Stall Out' and 'Reset,' end it there, ~49 minutes of bliss. 'Control' doesn't work here, and thematically it feels redundant alongside both 'Chaos' *and* 'Plan B.' 'You Are Mine' and 'Picture' would make for great bonus tracks

Wow, this album got butchered on release lol I actually really like it. "Chaos" is such an outstanding track, but I agree that some songs shouldn't be there at all. Still better that whatever they are doing now...

Man this shit still rules hard, although it is a bit long.
The drumming steals the show imo.

Yeah, this album rules.
Control and Reset are so damn good.

They will never come back to this though. Sadly.

I liked Vitals. Judging by that new single, they are sticking with the more synth sound.
I do enjoy this and Odd Soul more, but I still appreciate the band trying new things and mostly succeeding with them.

Vitals was enjoyable, and I'm cool with them building on the synth elements.
The main thing I hope is different with the new album is that there's more jamming/instrumental breaks like they did on here and Odd Soul. On Vitals that was pretty much all packed into the instrumental songs.

I love the first 2 albums but can't stand their last albums. Odd Soul was ok.

I love Odd Soul. It was actually the first thing I bought by them. I didn't realize Typical was also one of their songs until checking out more of their stuff. I remember seeing the music video back when it first got released. It was so cool but for whatever reason I didn't check the band out until quite a bit later.
I actually haven't heard Armistice yet.

I only started listening to them in the last couple of years but they quickly became a favorite for me. I go back and forth on this or Odd Soul being my favorite album of theirs.
Armistice has a handful of my favorite Mutemath songs but as a whole I find it pretty uneven. It's still worth hearing for the high points though. The nine-minute closer on that album is one of the best things they've ever done.

Armistice is amazing, probably their best.

I think Odd Soul got on my radar when I was on a blues-rock kick a few years back.
I will have to check it out, then. I mean, I pretty much have everything else they have done, so why not? That closer track sounds really interesting.

The drums on this though

Chaos and Noticed are both incredible. I wish they'd stuck with trying to be a 21st-century Police. On the other hand, Vitals is really quite good.

Bummer. I have been a little hesitant to try it after the drummer leaving news happened. Plus, I don't know what the actual time between it and Vitals was, but it felt like they announced the new one pretty quickly between releases.
