ya know i'm actually mad about the accusation that the demand for art is just a product (no pun intended) of a consumerist ideology. then again there's truth to that insofar as we treat art as entertainment but i think art is enriching in ways that aren't as shallow as simply fulfilling the masturbatory need to be distracted. like its good for yr soul man. and anticipating a particular piece of art is justifiable too becuz you're thinkin that that work can probably offer you something that isn't offered by other works.
