lol yeah wtf, me and piss are literally the only other people who even comment on Grateful Dead threads.

Self-titled is one of their best for sure.

Their debut is solid but Workingman's Dead has much more going on imo. I definitely prefer it over their debut and I'm a fan of the blues. Generally, The Grateful Dead needs more love on here.

I've just never got into the Dead's 70's stuff as much as their 60's material. I generally prefer the more psych and blues influenced sound of their earlier stuff.

Some of their 70s stuff is all over the place whereas their 60s albums are more focused on blues and psych as you've said.

No, they released 3 studio albums in the 60's.

This was their only official live album released in the 60's as far as I'm aware.

Awesome, you said it was more psychedelic then the 70s material which sparked my interest. as much as this band is hailed as one to be seen live, you can't capture that magic on a CD or Vinyl so I'd prefer studio quality

Yeah those 3 studio albums are definitely more psych influenced than their later stuff. All 3 of them are really good. This is my favourite Dead album though.

i mean if you wanna be technical, anthem of the sun is their first live album. it's a hybrid studio/live album, one of the most experimental albums ever created, in all senses, not just the music but in the actual way in which it was recorded, spliced together, etc
