It doesn't help that you can find a superior take on the kind of riffing Chuck attempts here on any Nevermore album from the same time or any early '90s Forbidden song.

Is there an instrumental version of this? Vocals are not my cup of tea at all
|

there are instrumental Death demos, which were planned to be Control Denied songs. Those ended up on TSOP. that much i know

On par with Death’s best work. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

I still love the riffs here, but I seriously wish Chuck was able to get Warrel Dane on vox like he originally intended. That would have been amazing

yeah tim aymar's vox were the last thing to grow on me. took me a while to adjust to it, but now i think they're great.

i mean nah cos chuck wrote very unique and emotional passages like the title tracks solo for example section makes me weep like a bitch. i like nevermore/forbidden but even this which is diluted chuck is still better than those other bands at their best rly

Like someone else said, Death reigns supreme but this is pretty damn good in its own way. The vocals took some getting used to but I actually enjoy them now.
I also really appreciate that Chuck and company didn't release this under Death's name.

RIP Tim!
Really good album. But yeah, for variance sake: none of these songs would be out of place on TSOP. Chuck didn’t actually embrace a different style with this.

I can't not hear "I would be a wealthy man" as "I would be with a man"
