similar incorporation of recorded/layered instrumentation (+ some elements of glitch) is a production commonality not a genre
and fwiw both are impressively engineered here, just harnessed to impossibly dull tracks

Johnny fwiw I think this is kind of a grower, but I also say that as someone for whom this stuff is pretty far outside my normal wheelhouse

if I don't get more into this project through Venice, i'll probs come back to this one at some point - but for now, I cannot remember the last time I felt less like returning to an album I was hoping to like ;]

Album's beautiful. The Brian Eno ambient style has been done to death (not that plenty of that isn't great too), so something uniquely produced and gorgeous as Caecillia, ambient that you don't just let drift by on the surface of your brain, but something that burrows deep inside, is not something I could fathom calling "hot garbage"

It’s one of them records that you’re told to like rather than something which actually contributed on any level but yep, it’s a good un just takes sometime to align yourself to it.

should probably give this another pass but i cannot stand this guy's approach to integrating guitar parts (which iirc is much more prevalent here than on Venice)
|

I came back to it as a result of the Ozmotic collaboration released a few weeks back and which is an aoty contender for me.
